PROJECT ONE
Modelling and documentation
BRIEF
Produce revit model of a selected 3 storey house design using architectural components such as walls, roof, stairs etc. At the end, the model shall be used to generate documentation drawings, using revit architecture documentation components like sheets, sections, room schedules and more.
OUTCOME
PROJECT PROCESS FROM START TO DOCUMENTATION

CHOOSING DESIGN AND DRAWING OUT GRIDLINES
GROUND FLOOR MODELLING
FIRST FLOOR MODELLING
The image above shows how i began the task at hand by downloading floorplans of my house and then drawing out gridlines so that it would be easier to model the walls in revit
I then began building up my walls and openings for the ground floor, keeping in mine different materials and wall thicknesses. As the 3d view is generated, the 2d floorplans are being drawn together.
While modelling the first floor, i was introduced to cutting openings in the floor for the stairs which took a while to figure out.

FIRST FLOOR MODELLING CONTINUATION
I continued by adding in windows and sliding doors on my floorplan which were then reflected in the 3d model.

OPENINGS
The image shows a closeup of the windows on the floorplan as well as how the gridlines are aligned to the wall placements

FIRST FLOOR COMPLETION
I added final touch ups to the first floor which included arches on the brick wall as well as a slab above the sliding door to act as a design feature for the facade.

SECOND FLOOR MODELLING
After completing the balcony on the first floor, i proceeded to modelling the final floor which also included a stair opening and balcony railing.
MODELLING AND DOWNLOADING FAMILIES
After my house model was complete with the roof and walls, i began creating custom families like doors and lighting. i also downloaded BIM furniture to add to the model.

DOCUMENTATION DRAWINGS
The last step of the project was to produce a set of documentation drawings on title blocks. these included floorplans, sections and more as you will see below.
FINAL DOCUMENTATION DRAWINGS
This is the final set of architectural documentation drawings produced in revit. It includes floorplans, elevations, sections and an exploded isometric drawing. Other details include a room schedule, testing of lighting family and also a section callout

REFLECTION
This project was quite enjoyable as we had alot of freedom to model any design that we wanted to. It was also my first time being introduced to digital drawing methods using revit. although i was a bit slow and confused at first, i started to grasp concepts and become more efficient at modelling as i progressed. in the end i was able to produce a set of drawings including floorplans, sections, elevations and even an axonometric. i hope that i will continue to become better at revit as time progresses. overall, project 1 was a pleasant learning experience.
