DESIGN COMMUNICATION

The module introduces fundamental skills for the appropriate communication of architectural design. It engages different means of visualization and expression of space and spatial ideas through architectural drawings to prepare students with the skills required in design projects. These skills are taught through a series of freehand and constructed drawing held both outdoors and in the studio. The teaching and learning approach for the module is lecture and tutorial based, with student engagement

This design communication module was quite useful and played a great role in helping me to develop soft skills that i can use throughout my architectural journey. Some of these include Line weight, Tonal values, Coloring mediums, orthographic scale drawings,  composition and more.  The module also allowed me to be creative and develop my own personal style in things like lettering and coloring methods. The lecturers put in alot of effort to ensure that the lessons were understood and assignments were carried out efficiently, posting step by step processes guiding us through the entire process and giving important feedback during weekly tutorials. Design Communication also allowed me to attain important TGCs like Communication skills, Discipline specific knowledge,  Problem solving as well as thinking skills. Overall it was a pleasant experience.
